Hallstatt is compact – and therefore easy to plan for families. The best entry point for families is the Hallstatt Lahn parking lot directly at the southern entrance to the village. From here, a largely flat path leads along the lakeside promenade to the town center – perfect for walks with a buggy or baby carriage.

The route to the Protestant church and further to the photo spot at the end of the lake is paved almost all the way and offers wonderful views over Lake Hallstatt. Early in the day, the path is particularly quiet – ideal if children still have energy and you want to take photos without the crowds.

Steeper paths such as the ascent to the salt mine or to the Skywalk Hallstatt are not recommended with a baby carriage.
